A more environmentally friendly furniture choice

Our mission is to challenge the buy-and-throw-away culture in the furniture industry. That’s why at Wecycle, we produce all our products in Denmark using the most environmentally friendly materials possible, such as 100% residual wood and entirely natural textiles. However, sustainability should never come at the expense of design—that’s why our key design principles are Nordic, timeless, and minimalist.

There is only one cushion in these colours and patterns – a truly unique piece.

The LIV cushion cover is sewn from 100% discarded textiles, given new life through natural plant dyeing using ingredients such as onion skins, avocado stones, and alder cones. Each textile is then hand-sewn into a beautiful, decorative cover with its own distinct character. During the dyeing process, the colour may turn out beige, curry yellow, pink, or moss green – depending on how the material and its texture interact with the natural ingredients. It’s an organic process, and the results are never the same, making every design completely one of a kind.

The plant-dyed cushion covers are the result of a close collaboration with I Tråd Med Verden, a social enterprise that supports women in vulnerable life situations. Through meaningful work at their sewing workshop – and a caring community – these women are empowered to build a better future.

Each cover features a small, woven label with Wecycle Furniture’s logo, made from 100% GOTS-certified cotton.

The material

Sewn from 100% discarded textiles in a luxurious wool blend. Instead of discarding the textiles, we have given them new life through plant dyeing and transformed them into decorative cushion covers.

What is

Plant dye

The textiles are dyed with onion skins, avocado stones, and alder cones boiled in rainwater. After boiling, the textiles are placed in the pot, allowing the plants to release their colour into the fabric. The result? A unique colour palette of beige, mustard yellow, pink, and moss green.
