Wecycle Furniture x I Tråd Med Verden
At Wecycle, we don’t just aim to create environmentally friendly furniture — we want to craft products with deeper meaning. This vision comes alive through our collaboration with I Tråd Med Verden (ITMV), where creativity and responsibility meet to produce beautiful, meaningful items.
Our plant-dyed cushion covers are the result of this close partnership. I Tråd Med Verden is a social enterprise dedicated to helping disadvantaged women re-enter the workforce through meaningful work in their sewing workshop and by fostering a supportive community.

From Onion Skins to Beautiful Colours
Using rainwater and natural dyes from food waste such as onion skins and avocado pits, I Tråd Med Verden transforms discarded textiles into unique cushion covers. Each cover is one of a kind.
Plant dyeing is an organic and unpredictable process. The colours—ranging from beige and curry yellow to pink and moss green—depend on the fabric’s absorbency and structure. Even textiles dyed with the same plant result in different shades, making every cushion cover truly unique.
To create our cushions, natural materials like onion skins, avocado stones, maple cones, and alder cones are used—each imparting their own distinct colours.

Using these onion peels and rainwater, the yellow color of the material used for the pillows appears.
Discarded Textiles Given New Life
Our cushion covers are sewn from 100% discarded textiles sourced from KVADRAT, a company with surplus fabrics or small weaving defects. Through our collaboration with I Tråd Med Verden, these textiles get a new purpose. Because the textiles are limited, each cushion cover is extra special and unique.
By using discarded textiles, we help reduce waste in the textile industry. Why produce more when there is already an abundance of high-quality materials available?

Hand-sewn by Vulnerable Women
The beautiful, plant-dyed cushion covers are carefully hand-sewn by skilled seamstresses at I Tråd Med Verden. Since 2018, I Tråd Med Verden has operated as a social economy enterprise supporting vulnerable women outside the traditional labour market. Their sewing workshop offers job opportunities, community, and empowerment through meaningful work.
Our partnership represents a shared commitment to making a positive impact. We are proud and excited about our collaboration with I Tråd Med Verden.
